Head's Message

Prenton Pep Headmaster
Welcome to the Prenton Preparatory School website. Our intention is to provide both current and prospective pupils and parents with information regarding the many aspects of school life and the opportunities we can offer every child. I hope you will enjoy learning about us and find your visit to our website interesting and informative, encouraging you to visit us and experience the vibrant and friendly atmosphere of our school.

Prenton Prep. School is a day preparatory school catering for boys and girls aged 2½ - 11 years. We are an inclusive, co-educational school welcoming all children of all abilities, backgrounds and cultures. There is no formal entrance examination, instead prospective pupils are invited for a day's visit and during the day, staff will assess the level at which the visiting child is currently working.

Visitors to the school frequently comment on the happy, courteous and purposeful environment they observe. Our size helps us create a caring, family atmosphere akin to the village school of old. Prenton Prep. is a community where every child feels valued and is able to play an active role in school life and where everyone knows everyone else by name. We are proud of the family atmosphere in our school and we work in an open and friendly manner, as we believe that if a child is happy they will learn and if they have a sound and efficient framework within which to work they will thrive.

At PPS we believe that we have found an ideal balance in pursuing academic excellence whilst at the same time maintaining strong pastoral care standards.  Care for the well-being of the individual is central to the success of the school. We strive to meet the social, emotional and intellectual needs of all pupils and the success of this philosophy is proven by the consistently outstanding examination results throughout the school.
Our aim is to provide each and every child with a sound academic education in an environment where discipline and care go hand in hand. We endeavour to appreciate each child as an individual and we seek to encourage the development of the whole person. Integral to this are the traditional values of courtesy, respect for others and pride in work, which enable all children to develop their talents, gain self esteem and reach their full potential.
The school has high expectations, which the children match with their strong work ethic. Our small classes enable us to have a broad and challenging curriculum and to ensure that all pupils receive high levels of individual attention.
Children are well prepared for the next stage of their education and we have an outstanding record in both the 11+ and entrance examinations to local independent grammar schools. There is an expectation that each child will reach their own academic potential and as such move on to the best school for them at 11.
